SORRY STATE OF PAKISTAN
Dec 27, 2007 - Benazir Bhutto was assassinated by a suicide bomber at Liaquat Bagh, Rawalpindi, Pakistan. I was in my office (Karachi, Pakistan) when yahoo.com posted it as a breaking news at around 18:10. We left the office to return home. On my way home, I saw people agitating as a protest to the news. They burned tyres near Parco Petrol Pump, Gizri Karachi.
I reached Zamzama Commercial Lane and parked my car there. Group of PPP hooligans stopped cars going to Khadda Market. They pulled out families from the car and smashed wind screens, side glasses.
They even looted mobiles from these families. The families complied fearing more violence to their lives.
These hooligan then smashed glasses of a nearby Puma shop where they took some pairs of Puma shoes. they left afterwards. During the night loot and riot went on in different area as shown on national TV.
General Musharaf declared a three day mourning and flags at half mast.
At Zamzama commercial area, these hooligan residing in the near by Gizri area smashed shop window panes.
Today morning, I saw the Puma shop from a distance. It was empty! Who did it?
Why was Benazir assassinated? Why private property was destroyed and looted? Who has benefited at what cost? Who will bear its prices?
People say it was Al-Qaeeda? To hell with Al-Qaeeda, why did she not take necessary precautions?
The Bhutto legacy started with Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto who showed dreams to the greater masses. Big on talks and small on delievery! People of Goth Ibrahim Haidery, Bin Qasim Town, Karachi; the strongest supporters of PPP have been neglected during two tenures of Benazir Bhutto. They don't have access to schools, hospitals, treated drinking water, sewerage system. A friends of mine by the name of Abdul Hai tells stories of how the community is trying to survive and educate the children on a self help basis! May Allah help him!
It is very tragic the way she met her end, but what will this senseless burning of banks, government offices achieve?
When will the greater masses of Pakistan get mature?
When will the politicians of Pakistan learn tolerance?
Allah help us all!
