TAZ
July 01, 2009 - June 3, 2010

The past year (July 01, 2009 to date) has been a wonderful and fulfilling year for me in terms of personal and professional achievements.

My role at NEC and in the PISD Textile team has provided me an opportunity to test and prove myself. In this regards, I gained my management’s trust for being able to deliver projects and most of all, gained good friends. Some of the achievements I hold dear to myself are as follows:

Achievements:

1. Being a resource person, my work experience during NIEMS Project for Ministry of Environment-Pakistan and the knowledge thus gained was utilized during WWF’s workshop at Indus Hotel Hyderabad on Environmental Indicators to impart the understanding gained during the NIEMS Project and the evolution of Environmental Indicators for Pakistan to Government Officials from different departments.

2. As Audit Team Leader for PISD Textile (Karachi), I have been a bridge between the PISD-Audit Team and Textile Partner Unit to initiate PISD project services and to ensure all the relevant targets are delivered on timely basis and upto the expectations of Partner units

3. For Quality Assurance, I have been reviewing and correcting Integrated & Energy Audit Reports and Action Plans that are up to the extent and quality required by my boss, NEC’s prevailing standards and the expectations of the Partner Units.

4. As Senior member of the team, I persuaded and took along Mr. Tanveer for executing different project activities that included Flow Monitoring at Adamjee Enterprises, Noise & Light Monitoring at Oman Dyeing & Buksh Manufacturing.

5. As Environmental Engineer, switched to more accurate method of flow monitoring from the area-velocity method to the use of V-Notch at Liberty Mills. The V-notch design was shared with and approved by Mr. Izhar ul Haq. V-notch was permanently fixed and strictly followed and as a result Mr. L.F. Poonawala highly appreciated this effort made of scientific basis.

6. 4Gas IEE of LNG terminal gave me an opportunity to interact with foreign consultants directly and as a result it developed a keen insight in the aspect of project planning and management. A lot of effort were made and documents prepared during the project planning that included Data Acquision Plans , Schedule of Activities to name a few; which brought in a new flavor to work along with the use of newer software like MS-Project.

7. 4Gas project made extensive use of Global Positioning Receiver Station (GPRS) and its use has brought into NEC a new skill set of its usage during project, coordinated surveys, area/ distance calculations. Its use has enabled me to help others (namely Ubaid Ul Hasan, Touseef, Furqan) learn and use similar techniques in their work. It is my opinion that this should further be developed and used at NEC during different projects.

8. Use of external consultants, such as Dr. Javed, has influenced my knowledge in the field of Marine Biology. Not only has it created a curiosity and also made me bring back different marine animals souvenir.

9. Mangrove Surveys during 4Gas Project is once in a life time activity especially in the event of 4Gas building its LNG Terminal at Port Qasim Authority. I along with survey team have been a witness to the wonderful world of mangroves. My achievements in this regard has been to successfully conduct three phases of mangrove surveys.

10. Development of Conceptual methodology for surveys pertinent to air pollution, noise emissions, to be dredged soil material, etc gives an opportunity to envisage activities before taking place on ground.

11. The honor of working with NEC’s textile project has made this team so popular that one call for workshop made lots of participants come on a short notice in case of SCI-Pak seminar.

12. Responded to non-PISD project activities for partner units such as IEE for Bari & Afroze & Youns (YTM) to direct business opportunities to Mr. Ibad at ESD.
